In 1974, I relocated from New York to Houston with my young family. After obtaining an associate degree 1980, I returned to full-time employment in the financial services industry. During this time, I continued my studies at night at the University of St. Thomas, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1984. I continued to work in the financial services industry in various roles, becoming Vice President in the Research Department which provided investment advice to financial advisors. In 2004, I joined a boutique financial valuation firm where I took on the role of Chief Administrative Officer. I retired in 2019 and began tutoring elementary/middle school children in social studies and ELA.
After 25+ years working at various positions in the financial services industry, which included training new hires on proprietary platforms, I retired in April 2019. Since then, I have been volunteering as a teaching assistant at a public elementary school, helping kindergarten and first graders with reading and interactive play. In addition, I am tutoring kindergarten and first graders in the areas of reading, phonics, vocabulary, and basic math, for a national tutoring company. Recently, I have developed a history trivia "quiz bowl" for six-graders which serves as an enhancement to their normal history/social studies school curricula. The program has been met with much success.
I graduated from the University of St. Thomas, Magna Cum Laude, with a BBA in economics. Due to my love of history and world events, I am a member of the World Affairs Council, and attend online lectures on historical topics. In addition, I am a member of a local book club to satisfy my love of reading.
