My senior year of High School, I decided to tutor students at a local Elementary School. Where I live, seventy percent of the population is of Latinx origin. Most of the children spoke Spanish. At that time, I was proficient in Spanish but not fluent. Tutoring those children not only helped me with my language learning schools, but I also learned how to communicate in order to help these kids, despite a language barrier. I enjoyed tutoring those students in many different subjects, especially ELA and Math. I left the program in 2012. From there, I went to Kutztown University to study Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. I worked with many students with different backgrounds ages ranging from 3 to 22. During my sopohmore year, I joined my professor along with other students at the Gettysburg Museum, where I had the oppurtunity to tutor and teach a lesson to a group of cadettes from Fortworth, Texas. I also was hired to tutor other students from my Univeristy. I tutored in Social studies, ELA, Spanish, Algebra and music. My junior year, I was involved in an accident which caused both of my knees to shatter. My injury limited me a lot, so I ended up switching my Major to History. I graduated in May 2017. That June I worked for a company where I instructed adults with disabilities. In 2019, I became a substitute teacher. I taught a special ed classroom of 20 middle schoolers. From 2020-2021, I taught second grade. I had my own classroom virtually due to the pandemic. Teaching virtually had its challenges but I learned a lot. I learned how to utilize my resources, but most importantly I learned that children can learn without having to physically be inside of a classroom. I used programs such as Google Classroom, Edpuzzle, Brain pop jr, YouTube, etc. Those programs allowed me to make learning interactive and fun. In order to keep Parents invovled and well informed. I used Classdojo to communicate. I also sent out a newsletter to parents each week to let them know what their students would be doing. Educating is what I am the most passionate about. I can't see myself working in any other field. It is so inspiring watching children flourish in a subject that they once struggled in. My favorite subjects to teach are English Language arts, Social Studies and Science but I'd teach anything. As for my personal life. I am single without children. I live with my sister and my niece and our dog Tully. I enjoy reading, bowling, going to church and Disney.
