Electricity and magnetism are different manifestations of electromagnetic force. Physicist James Clerk Maxwell realized that four mathematical statements constitute a single coherent description of electricity and magnetism, so he put them together as four fundamental laws of electricity and magnetism and we call it Maxwell's equations:
1.Culomb's law: like charges repel each other, unlike charges will attract, with a force that has an inverse-square dependence on the the distance between the charges;
2.There are no magnetic monopoles exists in nature;
3.Magnetic phenomena can be produced by electric effects;
4.Electric phenomena can be produced by magnetic effects.
Maxwell's Equations, Newton's laws of motion, laws of thermodynamics, together make up what is known as classical physics today.
