I earned a Bachelors degree in biology and environmental policy from Colby College in 1998. I also studied marine biology at James Cook University in Australia as part of a study abroad program. After graduation, I spent a number of years in various career fields before starting a career in teaching. For the past 9 years, I have taught high school biology (including honors courses) at a college preparatory school in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to teaching biology, I have experience teaching scientific research methods and earth science. I am acting science department chair for both my school district and at my school site. During the past 5 years, I have taken a number of prerequisite courses toward a Masters program in physician's assistant studies including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, psychology and abnormal psychology, and college algebra and statistics.
