I have been an Instructor's Assistant in Organic Chemistry at The Ohio State University since August 2015. In this time I have personally instructed 500+ students, as well as overseen the instruction of 5000+ students through managing departmental office hours and student assistance, and training and helping organic chemistry instructors to ensure effective instruction of course material. I have personally tutored 40+ students in organic chemistry in one-on-one or small group settings. My teaching experience includes, but is not limited to the following lecture topics: Acid/Base Chemistry, Substitution/Elimination Chemistry, Stereochemistry, Carbonyl Chemistry, Alkene and Alkyne Chemistry, Oxidation/Reduction Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Amino Acid Chemistry, Enolate Chemistry, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Infrared Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, HNMR and CNMR Spectroscopy, Distillation and Gas Chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography, and Column Chromatography.
I absolutely love teaching, and consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with and assist so many students in such an intimidating subject.
I believe that the key to success as a student relies upon building and organizing a unique knowledge base tying various disciplines together. This allows students to approach new subjects and material confidently as they are able to draw upon this knowledge base to integrate new material and work through new assignments independently.
