Metabolism

Metabolism is a term related to energy most of the time. Indeed, metabolism is made up of a series chemical reactions that ultimately produce energy from food. Metabolism has two processes. The first one is catabolism, which means foods are broken down into simpler forms such as fat molecules, or carbonhydrate. In this step, food is broken down and energy is generated to anabolitic reactions such as powering muscles. Waste is produced as well but they are removed through kidney, skin, lungs, etc.The second one is anabolism, which supports new cell growth and maintains tissues. Extra energy generated will also be stored up for future use in this step. So anabolism is more closely related to future.
